Eric Wiebe

Bio

Eric Wiebe is Professor Emeritus in STEM Education at North Carolina State University and Senior Research Fellow at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. He has served as PI or Co-PI on numerous NSF grants focused on the research and development of science and technology curriculum materials, the integration of technology into K–12 instructional settings, and innovations in instructional practices, in addition to being PI on a number of other privately funded and state-funded grants and contracts. Recent projects include collaborations with Computer Science colleagues on personalized learning systems utilizing AI technologies and the integration of computer science (CS) and computational thinking (CT) practices into K-16 STEM instruction. As part of his recent work, he has developed and validated numerous research instruments related to affective and cognitive aspects of CS, CT, and STEM education. He brings training in experimental psychology, extensive experience in educational research and evaluation, curriculum materials development, and research practice in the context of STEM+C education.
