Applied Education Studies: Learning Design and Technology

This non-teaching licensure option is for students who are interested in working in multiple sectors as instructional designers and developers

This teacher licensure-program prepares elementary school teachers who develop deep content knowledge in all elementary disciplines with a special emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics for a strong STEM-focused instruction.

This add-on teacher licensure program will equip teachers to support positive educational outcomes for children with diverse learning abilities.

Middle Grades English Language Arts and Social Studies Education (Grades 6-9)

This teacher licensure-program program prepares teachers to effectively educate and impact the lives of young adolescents and deliver high-quality English language arts and social studies instruction.

This teacher licensure-program has six concentrations or dual major options that prepares mathematics teachers for middle school or high school grades.

Technology, Engineering, and Design Education
(Grades 6-12)

This program prepares students for a variety of engineering and design employment opportunities, including a teacher licensure option and a non-licensure graphics communications option.

We offer two 15-credit hour minors that will help you apply graphic techniques in either your professional or vocational areas, or broaden your understanding of the technological society in which you live and deepen your technology skills.

Application Information

If you have already started your college education at another institution, whether at a community college or a university, you should apply to NC State as a transfer application. Keep in mind the NC State transfer application deadlines:
→ For Spring Admission, the application deadline is Oct. 1.
→ For Fall Admission, the application deadline is Feb. 15.

All admissions decisions are made by NC State’s Undergraduate Admissions office.

Resources for Transfer Applicants

Student Success and Advising Center

The College of Education has its own dedicated Student Success and Advising Center (SSAC) that serves as an academic and co-curricular support and resource space for students within the college.

North Carolina Teaching Fellows at NC State

Receive $10,000 per year in forgivable loans to teach elementary, science, technology, engineering, mathematics or special education and leverage NC State’s reputation as a STEM powerhouse to enhance your effectiveness as a teacher and give you a competitive advantage when applying for positions.

Goodnight Scholars Program

The scholarship is available to low and middle-income families from North Carolina and is limited to students studying in the STEM disciplines or STEM education majors. The value of the scholarship is $21,000 and is renewable for up to three years for transfer students.

Other Scholarship and Financial Aid Opportunities

Through the generous support of alumni, corporations and friends of the College of Education, we offer a limited number of scholarships to College of Education students, including transfer students, that range $500 to $10,000.

Student Organizations

Our College of Education has over 10 student clubs and organizations where students gain excellent leadership, community service, fundraising and event planning experience while meeting new people and building lifelong relationships.
