Bio
Dr. Diane Chapman serves as the Director of the Office of Faculty Development in addition to her role as a Teaching Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development at NC State University. She has overseen the operations of the NC State Office of Faculty Development since 2012. She is a recognized program evaluator and teaches courses in the areas of program evaluation and instructional design. Dr. Chapman managed the development and operations of the T&D Online M.Ed. and certificate programs at NC State University from 2002 through 2012. She is a previous recipient of the Gertrude Cox Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching and Learning with Technology, the Outstanding Teacher Award, the Alumni Association Outstanding Extension and Outreach award, and has been inducted in the Academy of Outstanding Teachers and the Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension. Prior to coming to NC State, Dr. Chapman served as Coordinator of Online Instruction at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Public Health and has over 20 years of HR and training experience in the private sector.

Area(s) of Expertise
Dr. Chapman examines faculty development in higher education, program evaluation in workforce development, virtual human resource development, and instructional technology in teaching and learning. Recent work has focused on professional and career development for non-tenure track and part-time faculty, measurement of faculty development outcomes, and evaluation in higher education. Dr. Chapman places an emphasis on mentoring students in the research process and regularly co-authors and co-presents with students.
