Bio

Renee Barger is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development. She is also a Senior Research Analyst in the Division of Strategy and Policy at the University of North Carolina System Office. In that role, she manages the Strategic Research Program, which provides timely, high-quality research to inform policy and practice across the UNC System. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development from North Carolina State University. Prior to earning her Ph.D., she spent nine years working in higher education, most recently as a research analyst at North Carolina State University and the UNC System Office and as a prospect management analyst at Northwestern University. Her research interests are in state higher education policy, student access and affordability, financial aid, and transfer student success.
