College of Education Board


The College of Education Board inspires enhanced educational opportunities across North Carolina by connecting people to the mission and vision of the College of Education and promoting the welfare and future development of the College through advocacy, consultation, fundraising and service.

The Board will generate and steward relationships and partnerships between the College of Education and alumni, faculty and staff, business, industry and other potential supporters to help create and sustain an environment of constant excellence and success in education.

The State of the Profession Committee provides board leadership for discussions around issues facing education professionals in North Carolina, with the goal of positioning the College to respond in the best ways possible and elevating the prestige of careers in education.  Suggested activities include an annual presentation to the board about the state of education professions and the development (and future award) of the “Inspirational Educator” award. This will be an award for educators in the field who inspire others.

The Community Connections Committee maintains relationships with key stakeholders across North Carolina and beyond, with the goal of enhancing student recruitment, strengthening alumni connections to the college, and advancing select dean’s initiatives. Suggested activities include outreach to targeted education leaders across North Carolina and nominations for the annual “Distinguished Alum” award.

The Development Committee enhances fundraising efforts for the College of Education, with the goal of increasing the number of annual donors supporting the college and building the College’s relationships with prospective major gift donors.  Among other activities TBD, this committee will lead strategic fundraising initiatives, conduct strategic networking and donor review processes with the board, and lead board-level fundraising efforts.
