Program Description
The Master of Science (M.S.) program with a concentration in Mathematics and Statistics Education is a 36-credit-hour, thesis-based, on-campus program with a strong emphasis on pedagogical content knowledge, disciplinary content knowledge and technological innovation in mathematics education. Through the M.S. program, students will further develop their instructional expertise, extend their knowledge of learners, deepen their subject matter knowledge, use educational research methods, and engage in professional leadership activities.
What can graduates do with a master’s in Mathematics and Statistics Education?
Graduates secure leadership positions in Mathematics Education as master teachers of mathematics in middle grades (6-9), high school (9-12) or post-secondary institutions such as community colleges.

- It is highly recommended that applicants have an undergraduate degree that includes a mathematics major or at least 24 hours of mathematical sciences in their undergraduate background
- It is also recommended that applicants have a teaching license
