PD 6665 – “Cultivating Genius” Book Talk

March 29, 2021 | 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

You’ve heard of culturally responsive pedagogy and multicultural education, but have you explored Culturally and Historically Responsive Literacy? This new framework is another way to conceptualize what it means to be an equitable practitioner in today’s schools. Join NC State faculty and instructors to discuss and experience Dr. Golnecsar “Gholdy” Muhammad’s pivotal work, Cultivating Genius: An Equity Framework for Culturally and Historically Responsive Literacy. At this interactive workshop, you will discuss an excerpt of Muhammad’s book, and use multimodal texts (i.e. songs, images, poems, videos, etc.) to explore the themes of the text.

Please sign up by Thursday, March 25 to access the reading.
