AI and the Workforce

Application Deadline: December 15, 2026. While there is significant public and academic debate around the impact of artificial intelligence on work, long-term research and empirical data remain limited. The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) has issued this Request for Proposals (RFP) to fill this gap by supporting academic scholars conducting research on how AI adoption influences employment, workforce development, productivity, and economic opportunity over time. IHS is particularly interested in interdisciplinary proposals that bridge fields across education, economics, technology, and public policy.

NSF 25-545: NSF STEM K-12

Although proposals for the NSF STEM K-12 program are accepted on a rolling basis, Principal Investigators are strongly encouraged to submit early in the federal fiscal year—which begins October 1—to maximize funding availability and allow ample review time. The NSF STEM K-12 program in the Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL) in the Directorate for STEM Education (EDU) supports fundamental, applied, and translational research that advances STEM teaching and learning and improves understanding of education across the human lifespan and a range of formal and informal settings.

Arnold Ventures (AV) – Causal Research on the Impacts of K-12 School Policies

Through this request for proposals (RFP), Arnold Ventures seeks to support research studies that estimate the causal effects of actionable, politically viable U.S. K-12 education policies that can be influenced at the state level and have the potential to improve outcomes at scale. Competitive proposals should employ rigorous causal research methods and, where feasible, examine not only short-term educational outcomes but also longer-term impacts on postsecondary and/or labor market outcomes using administrative data. Given the pace of state policymaking, we place a high value on research that can inform decisions quickly and will give preference to studies that can be completed within 18 months of project kickoff and/or produce actionable findings by the end of 2028. We seek proposals that address one or more of the following three areas within U.S. K-12 policy.
