The NC State College of Education will host a number of events and activities to celebrate American Education Week Nov. 15-Nov. 19. Help us celebrate extraordinary educators and the field of education by participating in our activities and events below.

Weeklong activities

Education Council COVID School Supply Drive

Ed Council will host a COVID School Supply Drive Nov. 15-19. All donations will be given to a local school in need of supplies. Drop off boxes will be placed in Poe Hall (atriums and METRC). Suggested donations: Box tissues, face masks, hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes, regular school supplies and more. No donation is too small!

#JustRead: Be Inspired by Books

Get a book from METRC’s American Education Week displays and share it with the world on Instagram or Twitter using #AEW2021, @NCStateCEDMETRC and your choice of #BookFace #Shelfies #Reading #JustRead #WeNeedDiverseBooks #bookstagram. At the end of the week, METRC will have a prize drawing from those who have posted to Instagram or Twitter and tagged @NCStateCEDMETRC.

SOAR with METRC

Stop by METRC to take a picture with their SOAR collaborative art project mural during American Education Week. METRC will post the feathers they collected highlighting goals for students, staff, and faculty.

Button Bonanza!

Show your pride in being an educator or make a gift for a teacher at the button-making station in METRC. They will have all the supplies for making 2 ¼” pin-on buttons — bring your creativity and take home a button.

#ThankAnEducator, Receive a Tumbler

Share your stories about the educators who made a difference in your life and how they are transforming lives, schools and communities across North Carolina, the nation and the world. Post your entries on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #ThankAnEducator and tag @NCStateCED — and receive a free tumbler while supplies last.
