Passport to Success

Welcome to the Passport to Success Program!  The Passport to Success Program was created in 2012 by the College of Education as a new academic enrichment and student engagement program. The Passport to Success is designed to more fully integrate the curricular and co-curricular aspects of NC State’s teacher education programs. Teacher education students are given the ability to design targeted “outside of the classroom” experiences that enhance what they learn inside the classroom.

The Passport to Success Program was designed in alignment with the NC Professional Teaching Standards and is focused on four key themes: Global Knowledge, Community Engagement, Cross Cultural Skills and Professional Development.  Ultimately, the objective is for NC State teacher education majors to graduate with a more comprehensive learning experience that will better prepare them for 21st century classrooms.

A Message About Passport From Dean Jayne Fleener:

"Many programs within the College of Education make me proud - but there is something particular about the Passport to Success program that comes to the forefront of my mind when speaking about our work. It is an addition to the undergraduate experience that will mold excellent, well-rounded educators. These 21st century scholars are motivated leaders who value work in the community, diversity in a global world and lifelong learning in professional development."

A unique feature of the Passport to Success Program is the collaboration between College of Education faculty and staff who serve as “Passport Mentors” for the program participants.  Passport Mentors will be there to guide the participants along their journey and assist scholars with tracking their progress using their Passport Blog. This presents Passport students with a special chance to build strong relationships with faculty and staff in the College. Ultimately, the objective is for NCSU teacher education majors to graduate with a comprehensive learning experience that better prepares them for 21st century classrooms.
