PD 374 – A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words: Drawing about Science in the Elementary Classroom

Drawing as a science practice can support elementary students’ reasoning and communication in the classroom. This PGU session will provide an overview of different purposes for science drawings in grades K-5, specific guidance on instructional practices for drawing to reason about science phenomena, and practice using drawings as a tool to assess students’ ideas. This session will also provide guidance on digital drawing resources that can be incorporated into elementary science classrooms.
