PD 335 – Session 2: Flipping the Classroom: How?

The flipped teaching format is a pedagogical approach that shifts direct instruction (lecture) from the classroom to the home via technology. Traditionally, students in flipped classrooms view short (10 min. or less) videos as homework. Consequently, a significant amount of classroom space and time is created for students to practice application (activities, labs, hands-on learning, etc.) of the content they have learned. These two complimentary-sessions will focus on the “why” and “how” of the flipped classroom. The first session will make the research supported case for implementing a flipped classroom, while the second session will focus on the technical aspects of implementing this approach to instruction.
