Virtual Global Film Series: Rafiki

Still banned in Kenya, Rafiki (“friend”, Swahili) tells the love story of Kena, a studious introvert, and Ziki, a free spirit. With beautiful, nuanced performances and engaging visuals, this film will stay with you long after viewing. Directed by Wanuri Kahiu, the film was selected to premiere at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, and was the first Kenyan film to screen at the festival.

This film is part of the Global Film Series, a collaboration between the NC State University Libraries and the Office of Global Engagement. This film is co-presented with NC State’s GLBT Center, and was timed to coincide with National Coming Out Day.

Attendance is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is required, and registrants will be send a link to the streaming film to be viewed between October 11-17. Register using the link provided below.
