Bio
Des Woods is passionate about educating people about how to serve as an effective ally and accomplice for social justice and equity for all those with marginalized students.
Why NC State?
Because of NC State’s location. The school is in close proximity to other institutions of higher education, including Shaw University, the oldest HBCU in the South. This provides me and my fellow classmates access to learn about different institution types. Having this access makes me a more well-rounded and more effective educator.
One insight gained so far…
That there are segregated sections and portions of campus. It is my goal to address the needs of traditionally marginalized and underrepresented members of The Wolfpack by creating spaces for members of these groups to meet and discuss their concerns with other members of our Graduate School. I also want to work to address, repent, and repair the relationships of the different identity-based groups on campus that represent different sections of our community.
