Community College Leadership

Executive Mentorship Program

Engage with executive leaders in the community college system.

The Executive Mentorship Program partners students in the Doctor of Education in community college leadership program with current community college executive leaders who represent the values and mission identified by the program.

What makes the Executive Mentorship Program at NC State unique?

  • Mentors connect students to specific opportunities that will enrich their experiences in the Ed.D. degree program
  • Mentors extend invitations to doctoral students to attend events, such as state legislative meetings, workforce development meetings, Board of Trustees meetings, statewide presidents’ meetings and more
  • One of the program’s goals is to build the network of doctoral students allowing space for a connection between research and practice

James Hogan

“Our group has had the privilege to work with national leaders across the community college space to examine leading ideas, best practices and current issues in two-year higher education. Our executive mentors give us the chance to peek behind the president’s desk and talk through the challenges community colleges face on a day-to-day basis. So much of what we research, discuss and explore in class on the weekend ends up applied in my work Monday morning.”
