🎓 Courtney Sherman ‘24MED is one of our amazing 144 new alumni we’ll celebrate and recognize tomorrow. When she began our master’s in training and development program, she was a distance learning student with an infant, toddler, and preschooler. “Every moment of self-doubt, all the late-night research papers and readings fueled my determination to show them (and myself) that it is never too late to start over, to follow your dreams, and to evolve at any stage of life,” she says.

And through her time with the College of Education, she came to “understand that education isn`t about checking boxes or memorizing facts; it`s about continuously evolving and inspiring others to do the same,” she says. “Just as I`ve had to be flexible and patient with myself through this journey, I want to instill the same belief in my future adult learners - that growth is a lifelong process and it`s never too late to change course.”

Here, she shares four more lessons she has learned as a College of Education student:

1️⃣ Own your expertise, but keep evolving
2️⃣ Make connection your superpower
3️⃣ Show up with boldness (and maybe a little audacity)
4️⃣ Stay humble, stay human

❤️ What lessons have you learned as a College of Education student? Let us know in the comments!
