Curriculum and Developmental Supervision

Curriculum and Developmental Supervision is a concentration within the Curriculum and Instruction Masters program. We are committed to preparing individuals to support teacher learning and development across the career span. This degree prepares professionals who are ethical, reflective and responsive with diverse clientele, as well as equip them with the knowledge and skills to make evidence-based decisions.

Digital Learning and Teaching

Prepares education professionals to lead digital learning programs, design digital learning environments, and inquire into digital learning solutions to continuously refine instruction and improve student learning. Graduates commonly work as classroom teachers, K-12 school- or system-level digital learning professionals, digital leaders in higher education, or in varied positions in government or private industry (e.g., instructional designers, e-learning developers).

Educational Psychology

The Educational Psychology Master’s program focuses on the examination and evaluation of psychological principles across the lifespan with an emphasis on cognition, development, motivation, identity and social processes. We thoroughly prepare students to serve as scholar-practitioners in a variety of education settings. Our goal is to create scholars, educators and leaders who will help improve and transform the lives of all learners through the lifespan.

Elementary Education

The Master of Education (MEd) and Master of Science (MS) programs in Elementary Education are designed for those who already hold a current teaching certificate. Tailored to provide candidates with strong content knowledge and application skills necessary to address student learning in the classroom, graduates are able to provide future students with deep subject knowledge and promote the critical thinking and communication skills that are beneficial in the workplace and daily living.

New Literacies and Global Learning

The Master’s of Education (MEd) in Reading, English Language Arts, or Social Studies: The New Literacies and Global Learning (NLGL) Program is a distance education program is aimed at increasing teachers’ capacity for teaching reading, English language arts or social studies in a rapidly changing world. New literacies enable learners to broaden their modes of making and representing “meaning,” while also developing deep content knowledge.

Special Education

The Graduate Program in Special Education at NC State prepares students for excellence in teaching, assessment, curriculum development, classroom and behavior management, teaching students with high incidence disabilities, evaluation and professional leadership, as well as other areas of service to students with disabilities and to schools and agencies. Our nationally recognized faculty provides excellent teaching, leadership opportunities, and high standards of performance. We prepare special educators via two graduate-level programs, the Master of Education (M.Ed.) and the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.).
