Beth Feuer Joining College of Education as Assistant Teaching Professor in Special Education

Beth Feuer

Beth Feuer will join NC State’s College of Education as an assistant teaching professor in special education beginning Aug. 16, 2024. In this role, she will support NC State’s new Inclusive Post-secondary Education Program (IPSE) called Empowering Learning Experiences which Value Advocacy, Transition, and Employment, or ELEVATE

Administratively housed in the College of Education, ELEVATE is a university-wide initiative designed specifically for North Carolina residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and will offer educational credentials, such as certificates. The program will open its admissions application this fall and enroll its first students in spring 2025.

“I am excited to join the faculty and staff at NC State to help bring the ELEVATE program to fruition,” she said, adding that she looks forward to teaching in the IPSE program and preparing teachers to become extraordinary educators, as well as collaborating across disciplines to improve K-12 and post-secondary educational outcomes for students with disabilities in research and in practice.

Feuer received her Ph.D. in Special Education with a specialty in equity and diversity from The University of Texas at Austin in 2024. She served as a lecturer at Texas State University and as a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Special Education in the state of Washington, where she taught secondary students with low-incidence disabilities.

Her research interests include equity-focused self-determination intervention research, culturally sustaining pedagogies and mitigating barriers to in- and post-school outcomes for diverse students with disabilities.
