The 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings has ranked NC State University No. 99 in the world on its list of best colleges for education degrees.

The THE World University Rankings in the education specialty category ranked universities from around the world based on 13 performance indicators related to five categories: teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.

The final list of best colleges for education degrees from around the world highlights universities that are leaders in teacher training and academic studies in education.

“This global ranking reflects the tremendous work of our College of Education faculty and staff, who conduct research on some of the most pressing issues in PK-16 education that advance equity and the greater good and who also work to prepare very effective education professionals,” said College of Education Interim Dean Paola Sztajn.

Faculty and scholars within the NC State College of Education, including its Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research and Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, continue to be the most active education researchers in North Carolina and among the most active in the nation based on total research expenditures, which is the amount of separately funded research that faculty conduct.

In 2020-21, the college reported $18 million in research expenditures. Over the past five years, research expenditures within the College of Education have increased by 39%, which “demonstrates our faculty and staff’s commitment to excellence in research and their transformational impact on society,” Sztajn said.
