NC State Education Awarded $14.4M in Research Funding January-March 2019

Faculty and researchers at the NC State College of Education and its Friday Institute for Educational Innovation were awarded $14,456,357 to support eight research projects in the first quarter of 2019.

N&O: NC State Gets $12M from N.C. to Help Elementary School Students Read Better

The NC State College of Education's Wolfpack WORKS literacy initiative received a three-year, $12.26 million grant from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, which will allow the initiative to expand its work of training beginning K-2 teachers in 16 North Carolina school districts to include all third-year K-2 teachers in those districts. The new grant is the largest the college's faculty has received since records have been kept.

WRAL: NC State Receives Record-Breaking $12M Grant to Help Teachers Improve Students’ Reading Skills

The NC State College of Education's Wolfpack WORKS literacy initiative will expand its support to beginning K-2 teachers and continue to improve early literacy outcomes in North Carolina using a new three-year, $12.2 million grant from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. The three-year timeline allows the Wolfpack WORKS team to evaluate the program’s impact on participating teachers’ early literacy knowledge and practice as well as their students’ reading achievement in the short- and long-term.

Technician: Wolfpack WORKS Literacy Initiative Gets $12.2M Grant

The NC State College of Education's Wolfpack WORKS literacy initiative will use a new three-year, $12.2 million grant from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction to extend its support to third-year K-2 teachers in partner school districts and hire additional literacy coaches to increase the reach of the initiative to more than 240 teachers across North Carolina.

Wolfpack WORKS Receives $12.2M Grant from DPI to Improve Early Literacy Across NC

The NC State College of Education’s Wolfpack WORKS literacy initiative has received a three-year, $12,266,816 grant from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction to expand its support of beginning K-2 teachers and improve early literacy outcomes across North Carolina. Started in summer 2018 and now in its pilot year, Wolfpack WORKS has worked with over 170 first- and second-year K-2 teachers in 16 high-need school districts in North Carolina to help them improve early literacy instruction. With the new grant, Wolfpack WORKS will continue for at least three more years and expand its support to include third-year K-2 teachers.

NC State Education Hurricane Recovery Efforts

The NC State College of Education responded to the aftermath of Hurricanes Florence and Michael by offering multiple ways of support -- to students and partner school districts across North Carolina. Among the efforts were a book drive and emergency student support fund.

Helping Students Recover from Hurricane Florence

The NC State College of Education is helping students directly impacted by Hurricane Florence through the Gerald Fund for Emergency Student Support. Clinical mental health counseling graduate student Jasmine Ambrose -- who recently moved to Jacksonville, N.C. -- is the first to receive funds to assist with immediate needs due to circumstances caused by the record-breaking storm.

Serving Others in Crisis and the Classroom

When Hurricane Florence hit North Carolina in mid-September, Mary-Lynn Kebker ’17MED was ready to serve. The Wolfpack WORKS literacy coach and N.C. National Guard captain led and coordinated hundreds of first responders during and after the storm to help families trapped by rising water and serve those with some of the greatest needs. 

NC State Education faculty were awarded over $28 million in grants in FY2018, the most in the college's 91-year history.

With $28M+ in Grants Awarded in FY2018, NC State Education Faculty Set New Record

NC State College of Education faculty were awarded 44 research grants by external sources in FY2018 totaling $28,038,462. That is the most in grants awarded to faculty in a single year in the college’s 91-year history.
