EdNC.org: Wolfpack WORKS: Literacy Support for Beginning K-2 Teachers

Through the NC State College of Education and N.C. Department of Instruction initiative, Wolfpack WORKS, over 100 first- and second-year K-2 teachers in 15 high-need districts will receive blended professional development, literacy-specific coaching, and literacy resources.

In this episode of EdTalk, host Alex Granados talks with Paola Sztajn, NC State College of Education's associate dean for research and Innovation and co-principal investigator for Wolfpack WORKS. Wolfpack WORKS is an offshoot of the Read to Achieve program and will help first- and second-year, K-2 teachers better provide literacy instruction to their students.

EdNC.org: Superintendent Johnson Allocates Funds for Literacy Training and Coaching

During a press conference Monday, State Superintendent Mark Johnson said the Department of Public Instruction will partner with the NC State College of Education to help beginning K-2 teachers in 15 low-performing local districts in reading instruction. The program, called Wolfpack WORKS (Ways to Optimize Reading/Writing for Kids Statewide), will also use Read to Achieve funds and combines in-person coaching with NC State professionals and online training.
