Technician: NC State’s Trisha Mackey Heads New Scholarship Program for Future Eastern NC teachers

Trisha Mackey began her new role as the director of the Transformational Scholarship Program on Dec. 1. Through the program, students from eastern North Carolina who plan to major in education, have demonstrated financial need and meet other requirements are provided with $10,000 per year, as well as hands-on experience opportunities and guidance throughout their four years to support them through college so they can return to teach in their home region.

Trisha Mackey ’18MED Named Inaugural Director of College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program

Trisha Mackey ’18MED will be the inaugural director of the NC State College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program, effective Dec. 1. Currently, she serves as the academic and research coordinator with NC State’s TRIO Program and recently received the New Advisor of the Year Award from NC State’s Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA).

EdNC: How to Apply for a Transformational Scholarship from NC State

Students in eastern North Carolina who want to earn an undergraduate degree in education from North Carolina State University (N.C. State) and return to the region to teach are eligible for a $40,000 scholarship thanks to the Anonymous Trust.
