Transformational Scholarships Program Director Trisha Mackey ‘18MED Recognized with NACADA New Advisor Certificate of Merit Award

Trisha Mackey ‘18MED, the inaugural director of the NC State College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program, has been awarded a New Advisor Certificate of Merit for Region 3 by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

NACADA presents the award to new advisors who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students, and who have served as a professional advisor or a faculty member with advising duties.

“I am honored to receive the New Advisor Certificate of Merit for NACADA Region 3. I pride myself on being a student-centered practitioner. This recognition makes me proud to know that my work with students has been meaningful,” Mackey said. “I am excited to continue this work in the College of Education, supporting and motivating students to achieve their greatest potential so that they continue on to be educators with local and global impact.”

Mackey previously served as the academic and research coordinator at NC State’s TRIO Program, where she earned NC State’s Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA) New Advisor of Year Award.

She received her Master of Education in college counseling and student development from NC State’s College of Education and bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, and is pursuing her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University.

Mackey will be recognized at the Region 3 Conference on February 21-23 in Knoxville, Tennessee, for her service to NC State students.
