‘The Program Has Opened Doors to Opportunities:’ First Transformational Scholars Prepare to Graduate from College of Education

Laura Bostic ’26 always knew that she wanted to make an impact on her Eastern North Carolina community and that she wanted to work with kids. Seeing how much of an impact her own teachers made as she was growing up, she decided to become a teacher and enrolled in the NC State College of Education, where she was accepted into the first cohort of the Transformational Scholarships Program.

Twelve students from across Eastern North Carolina have been selected to join the third cohort of the N.C. State University College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program. Supported by the Anonymous Trust, the program provides scholarships of a minimum of $40,000 over four years to high school students from eastern North Carolina who plan to return to the region to teach following graduation

During his time in the NC State College of Education, middle grades English language arts education major and Transformational Scholar Josh Webb has been able to take part in a number of experiences that have helped him grow as an educator, such as visiting K-12 classrooms in eastern North Carolina and learning about different cultures in Costa Rica.
