Middle Grades English Language Arts and Social Studies Education Student and Wolfpack Swimmer Ky-Lee Perry ’21: ‘I Love Working With Children. I Want to Learn From Them Just as They Want to Learn From Me’

When the coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020, spring and summer sports seasons, including the 2020 Olympic Games, were canceled or postponed. This forced Wolfpack swimmer and College of Education senior Ky-Lee Perry ’21 to make a decision -- retire from swimming or become a professional athlete.

Scholarship Support Made it Possible for Cheyenne Quarless ’21 to Attend the NC State College of Education and Earn Her Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education

As the recipient of the Paul and Geneva Jenkins Scholarship and the Dr. Estelle E. White Scholarship, Cheyenne Quarless ’21 was able to attend the NC State College of Education. She will graduate this May with a degree in middle grades English Language Arts and social studies education.

Passport to Success Celebration Highlights Impact Scholars Will Make in Classroom

NC State College of Education Passport to Success scholars must complete activities that fall into four separate categories — global knowledge, cross-cultural skills, community engagement and professional development. From the moment Shaunacee Harris ’21MED arrived as an undergraduate at NC State, she wanted to become a criminal profiler, majoring in criminology with minors in forensic science and law and justice. But it was her experience while pursuing a Master of Arts in forensic psychology that shifted her mindset and changed her career path.
