Since Andrea Sutton Thomas ‘20EDD began her doctorate program in the fall of 2009, she has experienced plenty of changes, but she never stopped working toward her goal. This month, she will earn her Ed.D. in Adult and Community College Education.

Shanna Darwish '20MED and her daughter, Sara, motivated each other as family and fellow NC State students while they worked toward their degrees. Now, they will graduate together. Shanna with her Master of Education and Sara with bachelor's degrees in political science and Arabic.

Doctoral student BJ Durham '22PHD came to the NC State College of Education for the counseling and counselor education program. He has always wanted to help people, physically and mentally. As a former college basketball player, Durham aspires to counsel athletes.

Assistant Professor Anna Egalite and Associate Professor DeLeon Gray have been named to NC State's 2019-20 class of University Faculty Scholars. These early- and mid-career faculty receive this designation due to their significant academic achievements and contributions to NC State through their teaching, scholarship and service to the university and greater community.

Community Counseling, Education, and Research Center (CCERC) Takes a Holistic Approach to Community Engagement

Graduate students from the NC State College of Education's counselor education program provide mental health services to the Wake County community through the Community Counseling, Education, and Research Center (CCERC). Students serve individuals older than 14 in areas like anxiety, depression and relationships. Love is a core principle for CCERC.

Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to Support AI Apprenticeships

A new four-year, $6 million project led by North Carolina State University and funded by the U.S. Department of Labor will support 5,000 workers with training, college coursework and certification to work in the emerging field of artificial intelligence (AI). Carla C. Johnson, senior faculty fellow and professor of science education at NC State, is the principal investigator of the project “Artificial Intelligence Academy (AIA): North Carolina Apprenticeships for Innovation,” which will be affiliated with the NC State College of Education’s Friday Institute for Educational Innovation.
