Stephen McKinney ’19MAT: Discovering Diamonds in the Classroom

Inspired by his family of advocates and educators, Stephen McKinney wants to make a difference in the lives of young children in North Carolina. That’s why he chose to pursue his Master of Arts in Teaching degree at the NC State College of Education. While completing his degree, his Language Arts Methods class inspired him to write a poem about the impact and responsibility he will have as an educator. Earlier this month, he taught a poetry lesson as part of his field experience at Hunter Elementary School and read “Diamonds” to his class.
