#WhyIChoseEducation: Lauren Haynie

As part of Celebrating 90 Years of NC State Education, we asked you to share your stories of why you chose education and why you love the NC State College of Education. Below is one of the many stories we received demonstrating how we’re leading the way in education in North Carolina and beyond.

Name: Lauren Haynie
Graduation Year:
 2004
Program: Secondary Science Education
Career Role & Responsibilities: I’m in my 14th year of teaching in Wake County Public Schools. I currently teach 7th-grade science at Davis Drive Middle School in Cary, NC.

Why did you enter the field of education?
I entered the education field because I wanted to share my passion for science with the next generation. I also wanted to give back to others what I was so fortunate enough to receive through my education in the public school system. It’s now my honor to ignite the love of learning in students and to instill in them the confidence to be compassionate leaders.

Why did you choose to earn your degree from the NC State College of Education?
I chose the NC State College of Education because of its strong Math, Science and Technology Education program.
