Shatoi Scott Joining College of Education as Assistant Teaching Professor of Counselor Education

Shatoi Scott will join NC State’s College of Education as an assistant teaching professor of counselor education beginning Aug. 15, 2025. Currently, she is an assistant professor and program coordinator in the Psychology and Counseling program at Alabama A&M University, where she has been on the faculty since 2019.
“I am delighted to join the College of Education, where I look forward to collaborating with faculty and students to advance the field of counseling and uphold a tradition of excellence,” Scott said.
Scott earned her Ph.D in rehabilitation counselor education, master’s in rehabilitation counseling and bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. She is a licensed mental health counselor with more than 15 years of clinical experience in outpatient, group, school-based and intensive in-home counseling settings.
Her research interests focus on rehabilitation counselor wellness and trauma with a commitment to community engagement and advocacy for people with disabilities. She previously served as president of the Rehabilitation Counseling Division of the Alabama Counseling Association, where her work was recognized with the Outstanding Member Award.
