Lacey Seaton ’17MSA, ’21EDD Joining College of Education as Associate Teaching Professor of Educational Leadership 

Lacey Seaton ’17MSA, ’21EDD will join NC State’s College of Education as an associate teaching professor of educational leadership, beginning Aug. 16, 2024. Currently, she’s an assistant professor of educational leadership and the faculty director for the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). 

At VCU, she has coordinated multiple educational leadership programs, including the Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership, the Master of Education with concentrations in Administration and Supervision, Leadership Studies, Culturally Responsive Leadership, and Higher Education, as well as the Graduate Certificate in Culturally Responsive Leadership.

“As a two-time alumna of NC State, I am thrilled to join the faculty who helped prepare me to be the leader I am today,” said Seaton, who holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration and a Master of School Administration from NC State’s College of Education, as well as a bachelor’s in adapted special education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. “It feels surreal to give back to NC State’s exemplary educational leadership program as an associate teaching professor.”

Seaton’s recent publications in Education Sciences and the Journal of Research on Leadership Education focus on school leader preparation. While at VCU, Seaton has worked in collaboration with RTR, a school-based teacher preparation program based out of VCU’s School of Education, to support grant writing and management of the School Leader Residency program to enhance the quality of preparation and ongoing support new school leaders receive post-graduation.

Her teaching experience includes Equity and Leadership, Principles of Professional Writing II, School Law, Policy and Ethics, and Administrative Internship I-III.

Prior to her roles in higher education, Seaton was a principal resident, assistant principal and an exceptional children’s teacher in North Carolina public schools. She is licensed as a principal and superintendent in North Carolina, and she brings extensive experience collaborating with school district partners.
