Demetrius Richmond Named College of Education’s Senior Director of Student Services and Graduate Student Support

Demetrius Richmond

Demetrius Richmond will be the senior director of student services and graduate student support with NC State’s College of Education beginning Jan. 22, 2024.

He will oversee graduate student success, recruitment and assessment while also providing leadership and supervision for undergraduate academic advising, and serve as the operations manager of the Student Services and Advising Center (SSAC). He brings over 18 years of experience in the areas of organizational leadership, administration, strategic planning and student advocacy.

Previously, Richmond was the director of the College of Health & Human Services Advising Center at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he also served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Africana Studies. 

Prior to that, he was the assistant dean of student and professional services at Northeastern University and the inaugural director of graduate professional mentoring and success in NC State’s College of Education. He has also served as a coordinator of recruitment and retention at the University of Tennessee and as a student development specialist at the University of Arkansas.

Richmond received his Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from the University of Tennessee, his Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Arkansas and his bachelor’s degree in Speech, Communications/Broadcasting from the University of Central Arkansas.
