NC State College of Education supporters showed their commitment to the college during the university’s Day of Giving on March 24 by contributing 808 gifts, which raised more than $860,000 for the college.

The gifts the College of Education received on Day of Giving will go primarily toward providing more student scholarships, advancing equity initiatives, creating more diverse, inclusive learning environments and connecting vulnerable communities with valuable, educational resources.

Support on Day of Giving also led to the College of Education winning bonus funds through three separate, university-wide challenges:

  • Window Into the Wolfpack Challenge: $1,500
  • Mr. Wuf Challenge: $400
  • Most Faculty and Staff Gifts Challenge: $1,000

Whether it was making a gift, showing up to an event or posting on social media, College of Education supporters stepped up on Day of Giving and made an extraordinary impact by #GivingPack. Take a look back at some highlights below:

Spirit Day

At this pre-Day of Giving event, the Carolina Ale House gave away free food to College of Education students who had an opportunity to learn about Day of Giving and how they could help raise awareness for the college.

Window Into the Wolfpack Challenge

Day of Giving got off to a strong start for the college thanks to Ashley Kreider ’21, whose Window Into the Wolfpack entry won $1,500 for our college.

Mr. Wuf Challenge

Five stuffed Mr. Wufs were hidden across the NC State campus, each one coming with a prize. When one of our eagle-eyed Twitter followers spotted one, they tagged @NCStateCED, which earned our college an extra $400.

Faculty and Staff Challenge

Faculty and staff made an extraordinary statement by donating more gifts to College of Education funds during the Faculty and Staff Giving Challenge than any other college or unit at NC State. This outpouring of support led to a challenge win and an extra $1,000 for the college.

College of Education $20,000 Challenge

A Raleigh couple pledged to donate $20,000 to be used for scholarships targeted toward educational equity when the College of Education reached 200 gifts for the day. Thanks to the efforts of donors, that number was reached and the challenge was met.

LM Restaurants Provide over $20,000 in Support to the College of Education

By getting customers involved in supporting education on Day of Giving, LM Restaurants– proprietors of the Carolina Ale Houses and signature restaurants like Taverna Agora, Vidrio, Bluewater Waterfront Grill and others– contributed over $20,000 to the Moshakos Scholarships, the Diagnostic Teaching Clinic and the College of Education Excellence Fund.

Dianne and Tommy Lawing Increase Scholarship Support to ‘Improve the World, One Teacher at a Time’

An extraordinary gift from Dianne and Tommy Lawing on Day of Giving means the College of Education is now able to provide what is projected to be its first full cost of attendance scholarship.

#GivingPack to the College of Education

Throughout the day, students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the college took to social media to share why they were #GivingPack to the NC State College of Education. Here are some highlights:

Reaching 800 Gifts

Thanks to the efforts of everyone who supported the College of Education on Day of Giving, we surpassed our goal of 700 gifts, finishing with 808 gifts that will go toward ensuring the educational success of all learners and building a better world for children and families across the state.
