As part of Celebrating 90 Years of NC State Education, we asked you to share your stories of why you chose education and why you love the NC State College of Education. Below is one of the many stories we received demonstrating how we’re leading the way in education in North Carolina and beyond.

Name: Manpreet Sandhu
Graduation Year: 2009
Department/Program: Masters in Science Education
Career Role & Responsibilities: I work as a high school science teacher in Clinton, N.C.

Why did you enter the field of education?
I have been teaching since I graduated. So far I have taught AP earth & environmental science, Biology, Earth science, Chemistry and Physical science to high school students grades 9-12. I serve as the science fair coordinator and help our students to compete in regional as well as state science fairs. I assist our team for the Science Olympiad. This year we went to the State Science Olympiad, which was amazing for the whole science team at our school. I love teaching and it came from the NC State Wolfpack.

Why did you choose to earn your degree from the NC State College of Education?
It is a great college with great professors and staff members who are always helpful and advising for a better tomorrow.
