#WhyIChoseEducation: Kris Thomasson

As part of Celebrating 90 Years of NC State Education, we asked you to share your stories of why you chose education and why you love the NC State College of Education. Below is one of the many stories we received demonstrating how we’re leading the way in education in North Carolina and beyond.

Name: Kris Thomasson
Graduation Year:
 1991
Program: MS, Science Education
Career Role & Responsibilities: 7th Grade Science Teacher, Student Council Adviser, Science Department Chair – Martin GT Magnet Middle School, Wake County Public School System

Why did you enter the field of education?
From the time I entered elementary school, I dreamed of being a teacher. I enjoy sharing knowledge and seeing the look in a student’s eyes when a concept “clicks”. It’s a joy to share what you know with others and to encourage students to major in a Science field.

Why did you choose to earn your degree from the NC State College of Education?
My family has a long history of attending NCSU. It’s where we go. It’s who we are!
