Amaya Dicker ’21 always enjoyed working with students, leading her to participate in the Students Advocating for Youth (SAY) Village. Through her experience with SAY, she realized her passion for education and is now pursuing a career as a middle grades English language arts and social studies teacher.

To Class of 2019: As Educators, “We Must Never Lose Sight of Who Stands to Benefit”

The NC State College of Education recognized about 328 graduating students during its Spring 2019 Graduation Ceremony Friday, May 10, in Reynolds Coliseum. “As we step into our classrooms, our labs, our offices, our communities, we must never lose sight of who stands to benefit. Our past fuels us to action so that generations to come will say, we are because they were," said Jemilia Davis, who delivered the Charge to the Graduate Students. "What stands between us and an equitable future is the educator we decide to be.”

Elementary Students and Teachers Benefit Thanks to Specialized Cohort Programs in Science and Mathematics

The NC State College of Education is preparing teacher leaders through an advanced degree in elementary education that offers elementary teachers add-on designations as science or mathematics specialists. The program, which graduates its inaugural science cohort May 10, focuses on developing teachers into leaders who possess a deep understanding of how elementary-aged children learn science or mathematics.
