Trisha Mackey ’18MED Named Inaugural Director of College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program

Trisha Mackey ’18MED will be the inaugural director of the NC State College of Education’s Transformational Scholarships Program, effective Dec. 1. Currently, she serves as the academic and research coordinator with NC State’s TRIO Program and recently received the New Advisor of the Year Award from NC State’s Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA).

Scholarship Support Helped Sarah Brown ’21 Find Her Passion for Education, Helped Prepare Her High School Science Classroom for Future Students

In high school, Sarah Brown ’21 spent most of her time working as a camp counselor and discovered how much she loved teaching and working with kids, but it wasn’t until the end of her first year of college when she realized she could make a career out of teaching. Scholarship support helped Brown find her passion for education and has helped prepare her for a career as a high school science teacher.

Scholarship Support Helped Sarah Schuetz ’21MED Prepare for School Counseling Career Through Hands-on Experiences, Earn Her Master’s Degree

Sarah Schuetz ’21MED always enjoyed working with children and adolescents. But it was her experience as a member of Camp Kesem while an undergraduate that changed her life and her career journey. Wanting to incorporate psychology and counseling within a school setting, Schuetz enrolled in the school counseling program, where scholarship support helped her earn her master’s degree and prepared her to become a successful school counselor.

Scholarship Support Made it Possible for Cheyenne Quarless ’21 to Attend the NC State College of Education and Earn Her Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education

As the recipient of the Paul and Geneva Jenkins Scholarship and the Dr. Estelle E. White Scholarship, Cheyenne Quarless ’21 was able to attend the NC State College of Education. She will graduate this May with a degree in middle grades English Language Arts and social studies education.
