The longtime, accomplished school administrator who was previously the deputy superintendent of the Johnston County Public Schools will lead the competitive, merit-based scholarship loan program that prepares top-tier candidates to be school leaders and that recently relocated to the NC State College of Education.
34 New Fellows Join NC State Education’s Principal Preparation Programs
The NC State College of Education announces three new cohorts enrolled in its evidence-based principal preparation program. The 34 new students, who began classes in May, will work towards the completion of a Master of School Administration while earning their N.C. principal license.
NC State College of Education to Host N.C. Principal Fellows Program
The University of North Carolina has announced that the N.C. Principal Fellows Program (NCPFP) will relocate from the UNC System office to NC State University’s College of Education campus in 2019. “NC State is proud to host the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program, collaborating with our partner universities to prepare upcoming generations of educational leaders who will positively impact students across our state,” said NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson.

EdNC.org: NC State’s Acclaimed Principal Program Assesses Candidate Character
Ahead of choosing its eighth cohort, the NC State College of Education's principal preparation program led by Professor Bonnie Fusarelli reassessed the goals of the program. They evaluated what kind of leaders they want to create to administer schools. Then they split the traits into two categories: those that can be taught through coursework and training, and those that should already exist within individuals.
JCPS: EdD Candidate Bennett Jones Named Johnston County’s Principal of the Year
Johnston County Public Schools has named Bennett Jones, a doctoral student with the College of Education's Northeast Leadership Academy, its 2016-17 Principal of the Year. Jones is the principal of Clayton High School.
