NC State College of Education Awarded Over $1M in Research Funding October-December, 2020

Faculty and researchers at the NC State College of Education, including the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, were awarded $1,048,844 to support seven projects from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2020. Total amounts reflect only the funding that was directly awarded to College of Education faculty and researchers.

New Study from Assistant Professor Michael Little Finds Principals Play Key Role in Promoting P-3 Alignment for School-based Pre-K Programs

Research shows that childrens’ school readiness improves if they attend a preschool program, but the initial benefits of Pre-K don’t always reliably persist as kids progress through elementary school. To combat this “Pre-K fadeout,” many scholars have called for preschool through third grade (P-3) alignment, but a study by NC State College of Education Assistant Professor Michael Little, Ph.D., recently demonstrated that attending a Pre-K program located within an elementary school does not guarantee alignment.
