The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) named Lee V. Stiff ’78PHD a 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. The award honors NCTM members who have exhibited a lifetime of achievement in mathematics education at the national level.

Wendell Murphy ’60 Named NC State College of Education’s 2018 Distinguished Alumnus

Wendell Murphy has been named the NC State College of Education’s 2018 Distinguished Alumnus. He graduated from the College of Education in 1960 and worked as a teacher before translating what he learned about leadership into a career of business and policy leadership. Today, he’s the chair and chief executive officer emeritus of Murphy Family Farms, the nation’s leading swine producer.

Kayla Norville ’14 MED, a doctoral student in the NC State College of Education’s learning and teaching STEM program, received the Dr. Patricia A. Obenauf Graduate Student Research Presentation Award for her work in studying the influence in-service teachers have on pre-service science teachers.

Professor Audrey Jaeger Named North Carolina SMT Champion

NC State College of Education Professor Audrey Jaeger received the 2018 SMT Champion Award from the North Carolina Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Center. The award recognizes an individual who provides extraordinary support of science, mathematics, and technology education in North Carolina.
