Meet Ginger Burks Draughon ‘20PHD: ‘I Truly Learned a Great Deal and I Value the Investment that NC State and the College of Education Have Made in Me’

When Ginger Burks Draughon ‘20PHD enrolled in the NC State College of Education to earn a Ph.D. in higher education, she was a single, working professional. During her eight-year journey to earn her degree as a part-time student, she has since gotten married and had two children as she balanced family, full-time work and her education. Her own experiences as a part-time student inspired her dissertation research and she hopes to use what she has learned to influence educational policy surrounding part-time students following graduation on Dec. 4, 2020.

Higher Education Administration Alumna Advocates for Equity Work as NC State Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity Intern, Develops Diversity Education Resources

Miyah Wilson ‘20MED was able to combine her love of higher education and her passion for diversity, equity and inclusion through an internship with the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity, where she developed a list of diversity education resources for the NC State community and served as an advocate for equity work.

U.S. News Ranks NC State College of Education #31 in Nation, 5 Programs in Specialty Categories

The NC State College of Education is tied at No. 31 in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 Best Graduate School Rankings among 393 graduate colleges of education in the nation. That is an improvement of 14 spots over last year. U.S. News also ranked programs within the college in five education specialty categories: Educational Administration and Supervision, Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Teacher Education, Higher Education Administration and Secondary Teacher Education.

Miyah Wilson, a second-year graduate student in the NC State College of Education's Higher Education Administration master's degree program, was named the recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award from the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I).

IDEALS Team Discusses New Findings and How to Apply Them in New Report, Webinar

In a new report, NC State College of Education Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor Alyssa Rockenbach and her Interfaith Diversity Experiences & Attitudes Longitudinal Survey (IDEALS) team discuss common first-year college experiences associated with students’ interfaith learning and development. Interfaith Youth Core will host a free webinar on Oct. 23 to share ways to implement the new findings on college campuses nationwide.
