Staff from the NC State College of Education's Friday Institute for Educational Innovation helped Centennial Campus Magnet Middle School students participate in Hour of Code, a global movement that introduces tens of millions of students to computer science, earlier this month.

Stanford Associate Dean and Professor Shelley Goldman Receives 2018 Friday Medal

The associate dean for faculty affairs and professor at Stanford University was recognized by the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation for her work in design thinking and her commitment to inspiring educators and organizations to take risks, solve complex problems and collaborate to build an equitable education system. Goldman is the 13th recipient of the Friday Medal.

Hiller Spires Named Interim Director of the William and Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation

Hiller A. Spires will be the Interim Director for the NC State College of Education’s William and Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation effective Aug. 1, 2018, until a permanent director is appointed. Spires, who is a professor of literacy education in the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences, served as the founding director of the Friday Institute from 2002 to 2006, and currently is a senior research fellow of the institute.
