With a passion for mathematics, Kelly Fitzgerald ‘89 enrolled in NC State with the hope of becoming an engineer. He quickly discovered he had more of a “love for pure mathematics than the application.” After taking some education courses, he realized his passion was in the classroom and he’s been a high school math teacher for 30 years.

When Monica Sawyer ‘99 graduated from the NC State College of Education with her bachelor’s degree in business and marketing education, she landed a marketing job with the NC State Athletics Department. That experience was the launching pad for her education career.

Earning a doctorate from the NC State College of Education opened many doors for her and inspired her to give back to the college as a sense of gratitude for what the college gave her, personally and professionally.
