David Ayers ’99EDD recently received the Senior Scholar Award for his research on community colleges from the Council for the Study of Community Colleges. But his work really began as a child exploring the campus of Surry Community College where his father worked.

In his first year of teaching social studies at Clayton High School, Lance Atkinson '18MAT said being able to adapt to change was one of the most important traits he brought to the classroom. Perhaps that trait is one of the reasons Johnston County Public Schools named him its 2019 Outstanding First-Year Teacher.

New NSF-Funded Program to Prepare High School Math Teachers as Master Teachers in 6 High-Needs School Districts in NC

Twenty high school mathematics teachers in Cabarrus, Edgecombe, Mount Airy, Rockingham, Sampson and Wayne school districts will strengthen their leadership skills and instructional practice in high school mathematics through the five-year, NSF-funded North Carolina High School Mathematics Master Teacher Fellows Program.

NC State Education Names 2019 ECMC Foundation Fellows for Postsecondary Career and Technical Education Research

Sixteen research fellows from institutions across the nation have been selected to participate in the CTE Research Program at North Carolina State University–Sponsored by ECMC Foundation. Known as ECMC Foundation Fellows, the researchers selected for this program will participate in two training institutes, webinars on research methods, and a convening focusing on postsecondary CTE.

New Volume on Undergraduate Women in STEM

Professor Joy Gaston Gayles serves as co-editor on New Directions in Institutional Research, a new volume that synthesizes and advances the field’s knowledge on undergraduate gender gaps in STEM. The volume responds to a need for rigorous research in equal gender representation in STEM fields with accessible implications for institutional, scholarly and policy stakeholders.
