NC State’s College of Education Ranked #30 in U.S. News’ 2024 Best Graduate Schools

The NC State College of Education is tied at No. 30 in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings released April 9, 2024, placing the College of Education among the top 7% in the nation among both public and private universities. That’s an improvement of one spot from last year and an improvement of 29 spots over the past decade.

Remembering Former Associate Professor, Assistant Dean for Diversity Paul F. Bitting

Dr. Paul F. Bitting, a former longtime faculty member in NC State’s College of Education and a lifelong advocate for educational access and opportunity, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. Bitting was a member of the College of Education’s faculty for about 30 years and retired in 2016 as associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development. He also served as the college’s assistant dean for diversity from 2006-2007.

From Here to Everywhere – A TEDxYouth Event

After a successful first run, TEDxYouth@ChavisWay is back for its second year. Scheduled for April 13th, the event will feature young leaders between ages 11 and 19 from across the Triangle area to share ideas and generate dialogue about important issues. Maru Gonzalez, a Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences assistant professor and extension specialist, is overseeing the planning efforts in collaboration with Christy Byrd, an associate professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences.

EdNC: North Carolina Sees Increase in Adult Educational Attainment

Numerous efforts are underway to fill gaps in credential attainment. In 2021, myFutureNC joined together with the John M. Belk Endowment and the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research to launch N.C. Reconnect, a pilot project with five North Carolina community colleges to reengage adult learners who had previously attended community college but left before earning a credential.

NC State’s College of Education is ranked #27 in the nation in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Master's in Education Programs, an improvement of three spots over last year. The college also ranked #1 in North Carolina and #11 in the nation for online education programs for veterans.
