#WhyIChoseEducation: Kait Batchelor

As part of Celebrating 90 Years of NC State Education, we asked you to share your stories of why you chose education and why you love the NC State College of Education. Below is one of the many stories we received demonstrating how we’re leading the way in education in North Carolina and beyond.

Name: Kait Batchelor
Graduation Year: Class of 2010, 2011
Department: Graphic Communications, MAT Technology Education
Career Role & Responsibilities: I teach the Drafting Program at Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, N.C. I am also the Robotics Club sponsor.

Why did you enter the field of education?
I come from a long line of educators that have inspired many people over the years. Growing up with educators, you learn about the hardships of becoming a teacher, but you also get to see the value and respect they have earned from the communities they have affected.

Why did you choose to earn your degree from the NC State College of Education?
I am a legacy and even though my father and sister have engineering degrees, it still felt like the right place for me.
