NC DPI Grant Allows Professor Ed Sabornie to Continue Examination of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support in Public Schools

NC State College of Education Professors Ed Sabornie, Ph.D., and Cathy Crossland, Ph.D., are hoping to inform the future use of positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS) in North Carolina’s public schools through a long-term study that recently received additional funding from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction.

Hannah Watlington ’22 always enjoyed taking math classes and helping her classmates in math courses, even though she’s not the best at math, she says. That’s all the more reason why she plans to be a math teacher. The N.C. Teaching Fellows Program and private support are lowering financial barriers to help her actualize that plan.

Jack Moorman ’18EDD, Chief of the NC State Police Department, Will Retire on Oct. 1 After a 32-Year Law Enforcement Career

NC State Chief of Police and College of Education alumnus Jack Moorman '18EDD will retire on Oct. 1 following a 32-year career in law enforcement, including 13 years as an officer at North Carolina State University, with the last eight of those years as the chief of police.

NC State: Home to Largest Teaching Fellows Cohort in N.C.

The NC State College of Education welcomed 54 new students to its North Carolina Teaching Fellows program this fall -- the largest entering cohort in the state. These new fellows join 20 other NC State students who composed the first cohort of Teaching Fellows at NC State since state legislators re-established the program in 2018. With 74 total Teaching Fellows, NC State is home to the largest group of Teaching Fellows in North Carolina, which is more than double the size of the next school.
