#WhyIChoseEducation: Kristen Parrish

As part of Celebrating 90 Years of NC State Education, we asked you to share your stories of why you chose education and why you love the NC State College of Education. Below is one of the many stories we received demonstrating how we’re leading the way in education in North Carolina and beyond.

Name: Kristen Parrish
Graduation Year: Class of 2022
Career Role & Responsibilities: Throughout high school, I volunteered at my own elementary school. I tutored students and my passion for teaching was only confirmed.

Why did you enter the field of education?
I am still a high school senior, but I have been accepted into the College of Education at NC State. I could not be more excited to finally begin what I’ve dreamed of for so long. I chose education simply because my teachers have had such a positive impact on me, and I want to have that impact on my future students.

Why did you choose to earn your degree from the NC State College of Education?
I am choosing NC State’s College of Education over Carolina’s Math program, Appalachian State’s College of Education, and several others. I have chosen NC State because of the education admitted students day I attended in February. I fell in love with the atmosphere and I was convinced that NC State’s College of Education is the best program I could possibly attend.
