#WhyIChoseEducation: Evan Seitz

As part of Celebrating 90 Years of NC State Education, we asked you to share your stories of why you chose education and why you love the NC State College of Education. Below is one of the many stories we received demonstrating how we’re leading the way in education in North Carolina and beyond.

Name: Evan Seitz
Graduation Year: 2004
Program: Middle Grades ELA & Social Studies
Career Role & Responsibilities: I teach 7th and 8th grade ELA & SST at the Onondaga Nation School in Nedrow, N.Y.

Why did you enter the field of education?
I went into education because I wanted to have a meaningful impact on the lives of others. There were so many people who positively impacted my life and I wanted to have every opportunity I can to do that for others.

Why did you choose to earn your degree from the NC State College of Education?
When I came to NC State, I was not sure what I wanted to do. When I started leaning toward education, I found the faculty to be outstanding. The level of support and guidance that I received from the professors was amazing and it helped to change NC State from the place where I went to college to my home.
