Ajaya Jonas Joins NC State Education as Coordinator for Global Programs

Ajaya Jonas has joined the NC State College of Education as the coordinator for global programs, effective Feb. 1. She will be responsible for the integration and development of the college’s global efforts with its teaching, research and innovation initiatives.

Most recently, Jonas served as the study abroad advisor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she managed a portfolio of exchange programs and collaborated with faculty and staff in developing new and financially accessible education abroad programs. She has also previously served as the study abroad coordinator at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she supported faculty in their development of study, research and service learning programs and advised international exchange students.

Jonas is passionate about increasing diversity within education abroad and enjoys bringing together international and domestic students for cross-cultural engagement and learning.

She has studied abroad in England, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Bolivia. She spent the past two years traveling, volunteering and living in parts of Europe, South East Asia, Oceania and South America on a budget.

She received her master’s in guidance and counseling from Loyola Marymount University and bachelor’s in human development and family studies and psychology at UNC-Greensboro.
