View our photo gallery highlighting the first time the Belltower was lit red to celebrate an international honor awarded to an individual affiliated with the NC State College of Education. That happened Sept. 28 to honor Ashley Lawson, a senior in mathematics education and NC State’s 10th Truman Scholar. “There are so many moments when my mentors, professors, friends and family saw my potential when I couldn’t and encouraged me to reach it. Thank you for pushing me to be my best self,” Lawson said.

Belltower Will Be Lit Red for Student Ashley Lawson Sept. 28—A First for NC State College of Education

NC State will light the Belltower red on the night of Friday, Sept. 28, to recognize NC State College of Education senior Ashley Lawson being named the university’s 10th Truman Scholar. “To me, the lighting is more of a celebration of an incredible community that helped me achieve dreams I never knew I wanted,” Lawson said.
